This book is compiled for overseas students who are just beginning to study classical Chinese. There are 20 lessons altogether in this book, all of which were selected from the most classical works from the Pre-Qin to Ming and Qing dynasties. The texts and supplementary reading materials are annotated in pinyin. Traditional Chinese characters, modern Chinese translation and English translation are provided for each text and the key words are annotated in Chinese and English. A number of sample sentences are used to explain the important grammatical points/ knowledge in classical Chinese. Simplified Chinese and English translations are provided to explain the cultural knowledge related to this lesson.
